About JB Security

What areas does JB Security service?

JB Security designs, installs and maintains home, business and corporate security systems across the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Tweed and South East Queensland.

How long has JB Security been operating?

JB Security has been a local, family-run security company on the Gold Coast established since 2009, with our team bringing more than 20 years of combined industry experience to every installation.

How do I get a quote or book a consultation?

Call JB Security on 1300 886 313 or email info@jbsecurity.net to discuss your home, business or corporate security requirements. Our local office team can arrange an assessment of your property and provide a tailored quote.

Does JB Security service or maintain systems it didn’t originally install?

Yes. JB Security can assess existing alarm, CCTV, access control and intercom systems — regardless of the original installer — and recommend a suitable maintenance or upgrade plan, subject to an on-site assessment.

Are JB Security’s technicians in-house, or subcontracted?

JB Security uses qualified in-house technicians to design, install and maintain your security system, when required we do engage subcontractors.

Home Security

How much does a home CCTV or alarm system cost?

Cost depends on the size of your property, the number of cameras or sensors required, and any additional features such as AI detection, active deterrence or monitoring. JB Security assesses your home and requirements before providing a tailored quote.

Can I control my home alarm or CCTV system from my phone?

Yes, on compatible systems. You can arm and disarm your alarm, view live CCTV footage and recordings, and receive notifications remotely from a smartphone or tablet.

Can a home alarm system work with pets in the house?

Yes. Pet-friendly PIR motion detectors are designed to help distinguish pets from potential intruders, reducing false alarms. The right detector depends on your pet, the room size and your home’s layout.

What’s the difference between back-to-base monitoring and self-monitoring?

Back-to-base monitoring connects your alarm to a 24/7 professional monitoring centre that follows agreed response procedures. Self-monitoring sends alerts directly to you via an app, such as MyAlarm’s iFob Control, so you manage the response yourself.

Can my home CCTV, alarm, intercom and access control all work together?

Yes. JB Security designs integrated home security systems, so your CCTV, alarm, intercom and access control can operate together — for example, an intercom can release a door managed by your access control system.

Commercial & Corporate Security

What’s the difference between a commercial alarm system and access control?

A commercial alarm system detects unauthorised entry or movement, typically outside business hours. Access control manages who can enter specific doors or areas, and when, during normal operation. Many businesses use both together as an integrated system.

Can alarm, access control, CCTV, intercom and monitoring be combined into one system?

Yes. JB Security designs integrated security systems for businesses, offices and corporate buildings that combine some or all of these technologies, so they work together rather than operating in isolation.

What happens to a former employee’s access when they leave?

Their access credentials can simply be disabled in the system rather than requiring locks to be re-keyed and physical keys redistributed — saving time and money, whether you manage five staff or five hundred.

Do you install security systems for warehouses and industrial sites, not just offices and shops?

Yes. JB Security designs and installs alarm, CCTV, access control and monitoring systems for retail stores, offices, warehouses, factories, strata properties and large-scale commercial and industrial sites.

Do you install security systems for strata and multi-tenant buildings?

Yes. JB Security designs security solutions for corporate buildings, individual office tenancies and strata properties, including options that work independently of a building’s shared management system.

What is a lone worker safety system, and does JB Security provide one?

A lone worker safety system gives employees who work alone or in isolated locations a way to raise an emergency alert and request help, often through an SOS button, GPS tracking, man-down detection or 24/7 monitoring. JB Security designs lone worker solutions tailored to your team’s roles and risks.

CCTV Systems

Does AI CCTV actually reduce false alarms?

Yes. AI-powered human and vehicle detection helps distinguish real activity from animals, vegetation and weather, which significantly reduces the false alerts common with older CCTV systems.

Can I view my CCTV cameras remotely?

Yes. Most modern CCTV systems JB Security installs support secure remote viewing from a smartphone, tablet, PC or Mac, so you can check live footage and recordings from anywhere with an internet connection.

What is an active deterrence CCTV camera?

An active deterrence camera uses AI human detection to automatically trigger warning lights and audible alerts when someone is detected on your property, aiming to discourage them before an incident occurs — rather than only recording it after the fact.

Do CCTV cameras work well at night?

Yes, with the right cameras. Colour night vision and Smart Hybrid Light technology combine infrared and visible light to provide clearer, more detailed footage after dark than standard infrared-only cameras.

Alarm Monitoring

What is back-to-base alarm monitoring, and how does it work?

Back-to-base monitoring connects your alarm system to a 24/7 professional monitoring centre over a secure IP and cellular network. When your alarm activates, the centre receives the signal and follows your nominated response procedures, which may include contacting keyholders or arranging a security patrol.

Does monitoring still work if my alarm is triggered after hours?

Yes — this is exactly when back-to-base monitoring is most valuable. It keeps your home or business connected to professional monitoring overnight, on weekends and whenever the property is unattended.

Is a security patrol included with back-to-base monitoring?

It depends on your monitoring service. Where a patrol response is included, a security patrol can be dispatched to your property following an alarm event, reducing the need for you or your staff to attend in person.

What does a Grade A1 monitoring centre mean?

Grade A1 is the highest classification under the ASIAL Monitoring Centre Grading Scheme, which independently audits monitoring centres against the AS2201.2 standard. It reflects a high standard of facility security, redundancy and communications infrastructure.

Access Control & Intercoms

What are the alternatives to a traditional key?

Electronic access control lets you use PIN codes, proximity cards or fobs, mobile credentials (Bluetooth/NFC), and biometric methods such as fingerprint or palm vein readers, instead of a physical key.

What’s the difference between a video doorbell and a full video intercom system?

A video doorbell is typically a single unit at one entrance, while a video intercom system can include multiple indoor stations, gate intercoms and integration with electronic locks — suited to larger homes, offices and multi-entry properties.

Can an existing intercom or access control system be upgraded without major rewiring?

Often, yes. JB Security can supply flush-mount or surface-mount stations designed to suit existing mounting locations, and in many cases can configure new access control to work with a building’s existing cards or fobs.

Installation, Maintenance & Support

How often should a security system be serviced?

This depends on the system, site and level of risk. JB Security typically recommends annual, bi-annual or quarterly maintenance under a Service Level Agreement, with larger or more critical systems benefiting from more frequent servicing.

Can security system issues be fixed remotely?

Many issues can be diagnosed and resolved remotely, including alarm programming, user access changes, CCTV troubleshooting and certain software or firmware updates. If an issue can’t be resolved remotely, a technician is arranged to attend on site.

Why is regular security system maintenance important?

Regular maintenance helps identify faults, battery issues, communication problems and other potential failures before they cause a security system to fail when it’s needed most.
